If you're a Switchbacks fan, tonight's the big one. Fifth-seeded Colorado Springs plays top-seeded New Mexico United in the Western Conference semifinal, with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. in Albuquerque. Can't make the trip? KOAA will stream the match starting at 7 p.m. on its mobile app, connected TV apps and website.

The Switchbacks can earn their first-ever win in Albuquerque, and it's the first time the rivals have met in the playoffs. Colorado Springs got here by tying Lexington SC in the 78th minute and winning in penalties.

Coach Alan McCann sums up his approach this way: "All of history is just there as a benchmark, and our role is to defeat it. To do better than it." Here's how the club has treated history so far:

  • First win over an MLS team: 3-0 over Sporting Kansas City, April 14
  • U.S. Open Cup: deepest-ever run, to the Round of 16
  • USL Cup: first semifinals; 4-0 group-stage win over New Mexico
  • Lexington SC: first-ever road playoff win, on penalties

The Switchbacks bring a club-record streak to a tough building

An outside report gives Colorado Springs 14 ways to handle data centers

If you've followed the debate, there's now an outside look at how the city could handle data centers. The , a nonprofit, released its report Tuesday. Mayor Yemi Mobolade asked for it in July.

The report lays out 14 possible policy changes. Four had a high level of supporting evidence and look easy to enact soon. Principal researcher Billy Wynne said the options aren't ranked recommendations.

The report says Colorado Springs is in a unique position because it owns its electric, water, natural gas and wastewater utilities, giving leaders more control over rules and rates.

The report says that's about the same as 996 households.

  • Zoning gap: data centers have no classification of their own
  • Hearings: applications don't automatically trigger a public hearing
  • Project Taurus: council postponed its final decision until April 2027

Picture police officers in bulletproof vests, blindfolded, tracking a ball by the bells inside it. That's the annual goalball game when Colorado Springs police officers take on student-athletes from the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind, who are blind or have low vision. It's Monday, Nov. 9 in the CSDB Main Gym. The blindfolds are there to even the playing field. Listen closely, officers.
