  • Twenty-four local Gold Star families of fallen service members will be gifted an all-expense-paid trip to Disney World as part of the Gary Sinise Foundation’s Snowball Express event.  11 News
  • On Saturday, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office partnered with the Colorado Springs Police at Target for the 32nd Annual Shop with a Cop event supporting families with childhood cancer and blood disorders.   • A local construction company is building an eye-catching float for the 2025 Festival of Lights Parade, and the team will transform Tejon Street into a Disney-style winter wonderland to compete for first place.  11 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Parks and Wildlife awarded $2 million in Equity Grants to youth programs to support outdoor experiences; among the recipients was Inside Out Youth Services in Colorado Springs, and grant applications will open next spring (CPW partnered with Great Outdoors Colorado to secure the funds).  KOAA News5
  • NORAD is asking Colorado volunteers to help run its Santa Tracker on Dec. 24 at Peterson Space Force Base where calls from children are answered in two-hour slots from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m.; public sign-up begins at 8 a.m. on Monday with approved ID required.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Colorado College freshman Wilson Björck was named to Sweden’s World Junior Championship roster that will compete in St. Paul, Minn., from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5; he earned six points for the Tigers + is one of 26 players on the team, including his younger brother.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • On Saturday, Air Force hockey lost at Cadet Ice Arena 6-3 after Robert Morris scored four unanswered goals in the second period, splitting the series. The result snapped the Falcons' five-game unbeaten run as they head into the holiday break.  Colorado Springs Gazette
