  • On Wednesday night, as temperatures dropped into the teens, warming shelters opened in Colorado Springs to aid residents facing extreme cold, with the Sanctuary Church in Old Colorado City serving about 80 people and planning extra space if needed (according to Hope COS leaders).  11 News

  • A busy slate of entertainment events kicks off today in Colorado Springs, offering music, comedy, and holiday shows at local venues such as Rico’s Cafe and Wine Bar (5-8 p.m.) and the Ent Center for the Arts. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Wednesday, wet snowfall fell across southeast Colorado, breaking records in Pueblo while Colorado Springs received 5 to 6.5 inches after noon. Early measurements in Colorado Springs could challenge the Dec. 3 snowfall record of 4.9 inches at the airport and help ease dry conditions.  Colorado Springs Gazette

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Hikers and runners continue to brave snowy conditions on the 2,768-step Manitou Incline in Manitou Springs. They use proper winter gear (including micro spikes) and extra clothing for safety as they tackle the icy trail.  KOAA News5
  • Totem, a new restaurant offering comfort food with a global twist, opened in late October at 315 E. Pikes Peak Ave. The eatery serves bold Mazatlán inspired dishes daily from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and occupies the former Well restaurant hall.  Colorado Springs Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Local housing experts say a potential 50-year mortgage could lower monthly payments (by $200-$300) for buyers, but stress that increasing home supply is key to easing the tight market. Federal agencies and lenders are still reviewing the option and have not released official rates.  11 News

  • Pine Creek hosts two tournaments on Friday. The girls will have their first Ice Queen event with over 20 teams at Chinook Trail Middle School (weigh-ins 1 p.m., wrestling 5 p.m.), and the boys start the Battle of the Best at Pine Creek High School at 2 p.m.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Switchbacks forward Juan Tejada signed a new contract on Wednesday to play in the 2026 and 2027 seasons with a team option for 2028.
