COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At Ute Valley Park today, locals enjoyed the 1.5-mile Winding Woods Loop that draws hikers, runners, cyclists, and dog walkers with views of nearby peaks (including Pikes Peak). The trail begins at the southeast corner of Pinon Valley Park at 5585 Mule Deer Drive and is open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. during November-April.  Colorado Springs Gazette

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Colorado Solar Innovations is selling a trailer-based solar generator to construction contractors—plug-in solar is not allowed in the state for safety reasons. The company hopes to offer plug-in solar in the future if state rules change to allow systems like those used in Europe.  Colorado Springs Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Colorado Springs will soon host its first Christkindlmarket in Old Colorado City at Bancroft Park from Dec. 11—14 and Dec. 18—23, where ten wooden huts will offer German foods, handmade gifts, and festive treats. The market will also feature a tree lighting on Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m., family days, and Santa photo sessions on weekends, and it will be free and open to everyone.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • AdAmAn Club will return to the Colorado Springs Festival of Lights parade later this year—its participation is expected to add a festive boost to local celebrations.  11 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pikes Peak Library District now owns the buildings for the Ruth Holly Library branch in a Colorado Springs strip mall and the Ute Pass Library branch in Cascade after spending more than $2.6M—nearly half of the funds came from donations including $1M from its foundation. The purchase lets the district plan interior changes at Ruth Holly and a hybrid service model at Ute Pass.  Colorado Public Radio

  • Residents near Fort Carson have heard extra noise and dust from field artillery training that began Monday and will run through Dec. 12 — the National Weather Service in Pueblo forecast an 80% chance of snow on Wednesday to help reduce the dust — residents can call the Fort Carson Public Affairs Office at 526-9849 with concerns.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • The palatial office campus at 2424 Garden of the Gods has become a hub for space defense companies that plan to improve tracking and managing objects in orbit. Parsons began renovating two floors two months ago and will consolidate teams by the end of 2026—fueling innovation with government and industry partners.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • The Colorado Springs housing market is shifting with more homes listed and median prices dropping slightly to $473,500, giving buyers an edge over sellers.   • December began snowy across Colorado's high country and ski areas are set to enjoy several powder days in the coming week — Monarch Mountain opens today as other resorts expect fresh snowfall and a series of low-pressure systems will bring more storms later this weekend and early next week.
