COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Gina Cushon-Anding served 150 Thanksgiving meals to people experiencing homelessness in Colorado Springs on Sunday night+ the meals provided vital holiday support to those in need.  11 News
  • Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains has supported families in Colorado Springs since 1948 by offering foster care, refugee assistance and other family services. The organization will expand mental health programs for foster youth and extend older adult guardianship as it navigates funding challenges.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Jane sought help from Partners in Housing to escape a toxic situation and build a better life for her young son; she used public transit, attended a Nursing Refresher program, and secured a caregiving job that helped her earn her RN license and start earning between $47 and $48 hourly at a local hospital. Partners in Housing (which serves about 400 people each year) works with the Empty Stocking Fund (a campaign that matches donations) to provide one year of transitional housing and supportive services to families in crisis.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • The Iron Springs Chateau has opened a new Christmas-themed show titled 'Trouble in Holly Jolly Valley!' The attraction is open for local residents to enjoy during the holiday season — a fresh way to celebrate the festive spirit.  11 News
  • The Iron Springs Chateau theater in Manitou Springs is launching Trouble in Holly Jolly Valley, a new Christmas melodrama where audiences will boo villains and cheer heroic elves. The interactive show will run every weekend until Dec. 21 and add weekday performances on Dec. 22-23—tickets are available for dinner and the show.  11 News
  • Douglas Mudd, director of the Money Museum, explained that the 1-cent coin is set to become obsolete as its production cost exceeded its face value — the museum displays historical coins and outlines how other coin denominations were phased out.   • CU economist Brian Lewandowski from the CU School of Business said that slow job growth and fewer federal jobs do not mean Colorado is in a recession, though warning signs like lower home price growth and tight labor supply could signal a slowdown if conditions worsen—he urged watching key economic trends closely. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado State Patrol will partner with Douglas County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, November 25 to conduct a Move Over Enforcement Operation along I-25 and C-470 in honor of fallen Trooper Cody Donahue who died in 2016 when a driver did not move over. The operation will remind drivers to slow down or change lanes under the expanded law—aimed at protecting roadside workers and emergency responders.  KOAA News5

  • Colorado holiday train rides offer festive trips with hot cocoa, cookies, and visits from Santa for riders to enjoy the season.
