  • Colorado Springs residents and others in southern Colorado will be invited to brighten a child's holiday by dropping off a new, unwrapped toy at Big R — Big Holiday Toy Drive drop boxes from November 25 through December 18, with donations going to the Salvation Army for kids of all ages.  KOAA News5

  • Terra Ferma announced Wednesday in downtown Colorado Springs that it has chosen the city for its new LiFi manufacturing facility and will invest $1.3 million to create 120 jobs—boosting advanced communication technology in the local area. CULTURE NEWS

  • Today in Colorado Springs, a range of entertainment events starts with the Native American Extravaganza at Pikes Peak State College Centennial Campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — featuring traditional dance presentations and craft vendors. Later in the week, live music, comedy, art and theater shows will be held at venues like Rico's Cafe and Wine Bar and The Mining Exchange — offering diverse options for local audiences.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • A vintage market will bring a festive holiday shopping experience to Colorado Springs as 100 juried vendors will sell Christmas-themed gifts and decor at Norris Penrose Event Center on Lower Gold Camp Road from Friday through Sunday. Tickets will cost $17 Friday and $12 on Saturday and Sunday with free entry for children 12 and younger — market founder Bethany Miskel said the event will offer a quality, unique alternative to big-box stores — and live music, food trucks and Santa visits will boost the holiday spirit.  Colorado Springs Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lewis-Palmer D-38 approved new high school courses in robotics engineering, manufacturing and entrepreneurship as well as an accelerated math course that will be taught at the district’s Career and Innovation Center starting in the 2026-27 school year—marking the first courses of their kind in Colorado. The board also revealed a partnership with Innovate Pikes Peak and Eagle Circuits to offer hands-on learning experiences for students.  Colorado Springs Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Forest Service is preparing a series of prescribed burns this winter through March 2026 in southern Colorado based on snow levels, air quality, and weather conditions. Burn sites may be closed for days to protect public safety (residents should watch for posted warnings).  KOAA News5
  • The Colorado Energy Office released a report Tuesday that details the state’s climate workforce needs, covering around 200 occupations—20 of which are climate-critical and include skilled trades like electricians and construction workers that face shortages in rural areas.   • A bronze bell weighing over half a ton and measuring 40 inches tall was cast after years of fundraising and a trip overseas to honor veterans at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. The Honor Bell, which incorporates artifacts from 12 veterans and tolled seven times at its dedication on November 17, will toll at future memorial services to mark service, camaraderie, and honor—an enduring tribute to military sacrifice.  Colorado Public Radio
