  • Food pantries in Colorado Springs have seen more visitors in recent weeks as the need for food assistance grows in the Pikes Peak Region. Today, Care and Share Food Bank directs those in need to partner agencies like Solid Rock Food Pantry—providing crucial help to residents including Justin Drzal, who recently moved from Florida.  11 News
  • Families are invited to enjoy Rocky Ram's Holiday Spectacular tomorrow at Crystal Gift Shop - mile 6 on the Pikes Peak Highway from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event offers games, photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs Claus, complimentary hot drinks, interactive ranger talks on forest health and fire mitigation, and a free Christmas tree with waived highway fees.  City of Colorado Springs

  • A new Back Nine indoor golf facility opened at 12245 Voyager Parkway, Suite 162 on Nov. 8—offering round-the-clock play using Full Swing simulators that mimic famous courses.   • Colorado Springs offers a variety of live holiday concerts this season—ranging from Irish music and classical pieces to rock and pop shows at local venues. Some concerts have already been held while festive performances will take place from November 16 through December 28, bringing seasonal cheer for all ages.  Springs

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The 2½-mile Spine Trail that connects Austin Bluffs Open Space—linking to Palmer Park and Ute Valley Park—is set to finish by the end of the year, with the full trail system completed by next spring. City officials say the trail will give hikers, runners and cyclists a safe route with scenic views away from busy streets.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Colorado Parks and Wildlife advised Tri-Lakes area residents to hang Christmas lights and decorations high enough to avoid deer entanglements this holiday season — officials warned that animals caught on low decorations could suffer serious injuries or even death. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Springs City Council approved a resolution on Monday to set up a CHIPS Zone aimed at boosting advanced manufacturing and creating high-paying local jobs—if approved by the Colorado Economic Development Commission the plan will unlock state tax credits for employee hiring, research, and training. Mayor Yemi Mobolade praised the move for strengthening the region’s innovation and competitiveness.  City of Colorado Springs
  • Arizona Gov. Hobbs said Wednesday that Colorado and other Upper Basin states have not committed enough to conserve water as talks missed a federal deadline; Colorado Gov. Polis said his state remains focused on negotiations—federal officials may step in if no water plan is reached soon.  KOAA News5
  • The City of Manitou Springs will hold a ribbon-cutting and walking tour on November 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Mayfair Trailhead to unveil Phase 4 of the Creek Walk Trail — an upgrade extending the path from Mayfair Avenue to Old Man's Trail with improved safety and accessibility.  KOAA News5
