  • Tomorrow, the City of Colorado Springs and Downtown Partnership will open Skate in the Park at Acacia Park—kickstarting the Acacia Park Holiday Celebration at 6 p.m. with public skating sessions and special performances by community partners and U.S. Figure Skating junior athletes.  City of Colorado Springs

CULTURE NEWS

  • Violinist Ariel Horowitz will perform Friday at 7 p.m. at the Ent Center for the Arts in Colorado Springs—she will play works by Grieg, Still and college professor Ofer Ben-Amots with pianist Alexa Stier, violist Shauna Smith and clarinetist Sergei Vassiliev.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Holiday music events are set to bring festive cheer across Colorado Springs as venues host a variety of musical acts—on Nov. 12, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas performed at Pikes Peak Center; on Nov. 16, Trans-Siberian Orchestra will perform at The Broadmoor World Arena; on Dec. 1, Christmas With The Celts will play at Pikes Peak Center; on Dec. 13, Harp Twins featuring Volfgang Twins will perform at Stargazers Theatre; on Dec. 15, Lindsey Stirling will take the stage at The Broadmoor World Arena; and on Dec. 21, An Evening with the Irish Tenors will play at Phil Long Music Hall.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Pikes Peak Library District offers strategic services librarians who guide job seekers, business owners and nonprofit groups with career coaching, business planning and legal research—features that make the library a key resource for local growth. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Colorado ski areas will begin receiving moderate snowfall from Friday night with light accumulations on Saturday and stronger showers on Sunday that could bring six to twelve inches in the southern mountains by Thanksgiving. Resorts such as Eldora—set to open Nov. 14—and Vail will adjust their schedules to match forecast conditions.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • The northern lights were seen Tuesday night over the Pikes Peak region from a solar storm that disrupted Earth’s magnetic field (displaying pink, red, green and blue hues). NOAA said a strong flare with an index of 8 was forecast for Wednesday night.  Colorado Springs Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Colorado Springs Planning Commission approved a plan to turn the Holiday Inn on Aeroplaza Drive into a behavioral health center for addiction and mental health care despite neighbor concerns about its location near Panorama Park and Bricker Elementary School. Aspen BHC said the center will start by serving patients finishing a 30-day treatment program and will expand services by the end of 2026—residents may still appeal the decision to the city council.  Colorado Springs Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Launchpad, a 50 unit supportive housing project for youth aged 18 to 24 and families on Colorado Springs’ west side, was awarded the Charles L. Edson Housing Tax Credit Excellence Award by the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition on Oct. 27—an honor for projects that strengthen communities. Developed by Cohen Esrey Development Group and local nonprofit PLACE, the complex will offer affordable rents and onsite supportive services through a 20 year Section 8 contract—supporting residents in overcoming homelessness.  Pikes Peak Bulletin

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday, ten Pine Creek student-athletes signed college financial aid agreements with three soccer players joining Division I teams at Ohio State, Oklahoma, and the Air Force Academy while others signed with schools for volleyball, lacrosse, swimming, softball, wrestling, and basketball. The ceremony celebrated their hard work—showing how Pine Creek builds strong sports talent.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • On Wednesday, the Broncos selected wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey off the New York Giants practice squad. He returns to Denver after playing with the Broncos in 2023-24 and may play on Sunday against Kansas City at Empower Field — the move fills a spot on their 53-man roster.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Air Force will face UConn in their first football matchup on Oct. 31—this game was arranged after Sam Houston State canceled its trip and UConn filled the open slot. Coach Troy Calhoun said he looks forward to meeting UConn’s coach Jim Mora as the team prepares to travel and players get a rare chance to play near home.  Colorado Springs Gazette
