- ➤ Halloween and fall events will light up Colorado Springs and nearby areas through early November — featuring pumpkin patches, haunted houses, trick-or-treat walks, film festivals, and family-friendly activities. - ➤ Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center will host the 22nd Annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down to prepare homeless veterans for winter. Opening ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Weidner Field and the event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.—an estimated 125 veterans will access free food, clothing, health screenings, and housing referrals. - ➤ On October 15th, Comcast notified Colorado’s Secretary of State that it will close its West Division in Centennial and lay off 302 employees starting Dec. 31 as part of a plan to unify its operations. The facility will cease operations by 2026—Comcast said it may consider workers for other roles to maintain business continuity. Colorado Springs Gazette

- ➤ The Funky Little Theater Company is presenting a new version of 'House on Haunted Hill' at Palmer Lake Town Hall from today until Nov. 1—adapted by Tommy Jamerson the play offers campy suspense for horror fans and is not recommended for small children with tickets costing $20 to $25. - ➤ Boo at the Zoo is a favorite family event at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo that draws about 20,000 visitors for animal encounters and trick-or-treat fun. The event runs today until Oct. 19—returns Oct. 24—26 with a Halloween celebration on Oct. 31 and requires advance timed e-tickets. Springs

- ➤ Colorado Springs School District 11 will host the groundbreaking for Jenkins Middle School’s new academic wing on Thursday at 10 a.m. at 6410 Austin Bluffs Parkway—this new wing will offer state-of-the-art classrooms, flexible collaboration spaces and innovative learning environments with construction set to finish by August. 11 News

- ➤ Colorado voters will decide this November the future of the Healthy School Meals For All program through two ballot measures. Proposition LL would let the state keep excess funds while Proposition MM would raise taxes for households earning over $300k—choices that could result in free meals for all or only for low-income students. - ➤ The Mayor’s Office today announced its 21 finalists — chosen from 77 nominees — for the Young Leader Awards that honor local professionals aged 18 to 40 for their work in Colorado Springs.
