- ➤ On Tuesday, homeless people in Colorado Springs received patriot packs with food, blankets and clothing in honor of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed on Sept. 10. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Cimarron Hills Fire Department responded to an RV fire Tuesday night near Western Drive and Dale Road west of the World Golf & Sand Creek Golf Course and had the blaze under control by 8:10 p.m.—the incident left the RV a total loss and set nearby vegetation aflame while no one was injured. 11 News

- ➤ Colorado Springs welcomed the new Colorado Aerospace Business Center, a business park spanning more than 30 acres that includes an 84,000-square-foot building built for fast office setups for defense contracts — the facility is located at 8470 Launch Point near the airport and major military bases and opened on Oct. 9. - ➤ Colorado’s violence prevention program Safe2Tell received 3,846 anonymous reports in September—its near highest monthly total in 21 years—following the Evergreen High School shooting and officials say the alerts helped prevent further incidents such as underage drinking and blackmail. 11 News

- ➤ At the October 8 board meeting of Pikes Peak Historical Society, John Rakowski resigned as president as he prepares to relocate and was honored for his long service including the museum mortgage payoff. - ➤ Dozens of solar supporters, including local homeowners and students, gathered on Tuesday, Oct 14 to urge Colorado Springs City Council to drop a planned net metering demand charge for solar customers — the change, set in August and scheduled for 2027, could raise bills for nearly 9,000 participants. - ➤ Colorado Springs Utilities is proposing a $50 monthly fee increase for solar customers to cover grid costs during evening peak demand — City Council directed the utility to remove the fee for solar users from the 2026 rate case, and a full vote on the rate case is scheduled for October 28. - ➤ IRS offices in Colorado, including Colorado Springs, are managing heavy workloads amid a government shutdown as nearly half of the staff have been furloughed and taxpayers with extensions must pay their taxes by today.
