  • A study by Dudek Engineering paid for by local neighbors backed up complaints about loud concerts at Ford Amphitheater. The review questions the current noise monitors—set in positions that may hide true sound levels—and city staff will review all data before four more shows take place.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Former Fountain city council member Detra Duncan faces two felony fraud charges for allegedly misreporting public assistance records—NAACP officials say the charges target Black leaders and her plea hearing is set for Oct. 24.  Pikes Peak Bulletin

  • Pikes Peak Library District released an extensive slate of literary events that includes a virtual author talk with Rosemary Mosco at 10 a.m. Wednesday and in-person sessions for adults and children across multiple branches—events run from Wednesday through October 5 and offer programs for all ages.  Colorado Springs Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Millie Spencer, a PhD student at the University of Colorado-Boulder, is studying Colorado's shrinking glaciers using images that show a 52% decline at Arapaho Glacier since the early 1900s—researchers warn it may vanish in as few as 65 years if warming trends continue. The loss of these glaciers is impacting local water supplies and natural habitats.  Colorado Springs Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • A sea of purple shirts walked Saturday morning at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs for the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s—over 3,000 people and their pets marched 1.3 miles around Prospect Lake while many held flowers to honor loved ones. The event raised about $180,000 and the group will work to reach $330,000 to fund future walks and support services.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Sports analysts discussed Broncos rookie Bo Nix’s performance; critics say he leaves the pocket too quickly and his mechanics may limit his potential, though they expect he will improve with more NFL experience — adjustments will be key as the season goes on.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Broncos linebacker Nik Bonitto aims to break Von Miller’s team record—he seeks to surpass his 13.5-sack season from 2024 as he has earned three sacks in three games so far.   • At Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs, Hawaii beat Air Force 44-35 on Saturday, Sept. 27—Hawaii's quarterback Micah Alejado threw three touchdown passes while Air Force’s Liam Szarka set a school record with 417 yards. The game was Air Force's third loss in a row as the team could not keep up with Hawaii's 535 yards of offense.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Yoseline Perez, a 21-year-old boxer from Colorado Springs, earned a silver medal at the 2025 World Boxing Championships in Liverpool on Sept. 14—she was the only U.S. medalist and fought until the final bout against a two-time Olympian.
