ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers found a 9-month-old bear cub in the underground employee parking of CommonSpirit St. Francis Hospital and temporarily immobilized it in a wildlife trailer. They tagged the cub and gave it a wake-up drug before relocating it to a rehabilitation facility in Frisco. Colorado Springs Gazette

- ➤ Brian Whitfield won the overall title in his third attempt at the 2025 Pikes Peak Ascent on Saturday morning with a finish time of 2:31:31 — young Colorado runners dominated the trail as they earned first titles in the iconic race. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ Oliver Horton of Coronado broke his course record at the Cougar Classic on Sept. 20 at Monument Valley Park — slicing nearly one minute off his 2024 time — as he finished in 14 minutes, 38.17 seconds and led his team to win the 4A/5A boys 5K. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ Air Force lost 49-37 at Falcon Stadium on Saturday night in a high scoring game against Boise State—Liam Szarka threw for over 200 yards and ran for more than 100 yards, marking a rare milestone for the academy. Colorado Springs Gazette
