- ➤ BoodleBox chose Colorado Springs as its headquarters on Friday because of the city’s strong college ties and tech talent, and it will add 30 jobs with average salaries over $104k—further supported by up to $323,056 in tax incentives. The company is partnering with local colleges and will host its Exponential Beginnings celebration at XI Downtown from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday—aiming to scale its AI-driven educational platform. - ➤ The City of Colorado Springs named Jason T. Strickland as its new chief communications officer and he brings over 25 years of experience from the military, nonprofits, and public service. Strickland will lead the city's crisis and strategic communications & media relations while Joe Hollmann becomes deputy communications officer to help with the transition. City of Colorado Springs
- ➤ Colorado Springs Utilities said that starting October 1, new customers will be charged under an Energy Wise time-of-day billing system that sets higher rates for peak use between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. and that most existing customers will be moved by 2026—an open house on October 7 will address questions. 11 News
- ➤ At Fort Carson, soldiers tested a new Army communications system that compared a 1995 computer system that reboots in 45 minutes—against a new Artillery Execution Suite offering a much faster restart and real-time data sharing. - ➤ Colorado officials activated the Prison Population Management Measures earlier this month after the vacancy rate dropped below 3% on August 16—this plan is now used to ease overcrowding in state prisons. Lawmakers will review a request for $2.8 million in additional funding for extra beds on September 22—reform advocates say changing parole rules could help reduce needless incarcerations.
