Labor Day Lift Off will take place at Memorial Park (1605 E.
Pikes Peak Ave.) from Sept. 5-7, with about 70 hot air balloons lifting off at 7 a.m. and a photo contest open until Sept. 13 with voting from Sept. 14-20.
Goodwill celebrated its 10th Enchanted Weekend from Aug.
20-22 at the Garden of the Gods Resort and Club with Chic Boutique, where shoppers found designer clothing, bikes and more to support local programs. A sold-out golf tournament and the On the Mesa culinary event also rounded out the fundraiser.
🎭 Culture
The Gazette family of newspapers won 64 awards at the Better News Contest, which is 36 more than last year.
Colorado Politics won 27 awards, The Colorado Springs Gazette earned 21 and The Denver Gazette received 16, including 26 first-place prizes.
🏥 Health
MedRide (a Colorado Springs-based Medicaid transportation service) cut routine ambulatory rides in El Paso County last Tuesday due to reduced Medicaid reimbursements and rising costs, leaving many patients struggling to access nonemergency rides while wheelchair users continue receiving service.

Air Force junior cornerback Mikhail Seiken has recovered from his recent meniscus injury and is set to play Saturday against Duquesne, crediting his faith and mental toughness for his return to the field.
