COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A Colorado Springs family was reunited with 60-year-old wedding photos when a TikTok creator in Mexico City posted film found in an antique shop during their grandparents’ diamond anniversary celebrations. The images show the wedding day of Evangelina Farías de Cruz and her husband on May 15 and have helped the family relive cherished memories—connecting them to a special legacy.  Colorado Public Radio
  • Labor Day Lift Off in Colorado Springs was adjusted after chilly weather kept balloons grounded Saturday—today the park opens at 5:15 a.m. with a 7 a.m. Balloon Lift Off and several concerts. Monday will start with an early park opening and another Balloon Lift Off with additional performances.  11 News
  • Photos from this year's Labor Day Lift Off celebration in Memorial Park have been featured on koaa.com and local residents are invited to send in more photos. • CSPD is asking for help to find Noah Giesegh, a 21-year-old man last seen at 10 p.m. Saturday on Jamestown Drive in northeast Colorado Springs — police advise people not to approach him but to call 719-444-7000 if they see him.  11 News
  • After inspectors found 24 neglected bodies hidden for up to 15 years at Davis Mortuary in Pueblo on Aug. 20, families and experts reported renewed distrust in Colorado funeral homes (following similar issues in Penrose and new state laws enforcing stricter oversight).  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • On Tuesday, a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 24 and Blue Gill Drive near Judge Orr Road in unincorporated El Paso County left 29-year-old Noel Gutierrez-Cano with a gunshot wound while the driver of a white 2013 GMC Sierra Denali fled—authorities are reviewing dashcam and security footage to locate the vehicle.  Colorado Springs Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • At the 49th Labor Day Liftoff festival, Saturday's hot air balloon launch was canceled because the breezy weather and lightning forced a change, although the U.S. Air Force skydiving demonstration took place at 9 a.m. If weather improves, organizers will resume balloon flights early today and on Monday morning, with another balloon glow planned for Sunday night.  Colorado Springs Gazette
