ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, the Manitou Springs Fire Department and Crystal Park Volunteer Fire Department contained a small wildfire measuring 10 feet by 20 feet in the Crystal Park Wildfire Protection District — cleanup is underway with no injuries or structures damaged.  Colorado Springs Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • Police are investigating a possible attempted kidnapping after a woman escaped from a car at a Circle K off Aeroplaza and Jet Wing early Sunday morning — a lieutenant said the incident may have started at a bar while officers gathered details.  11 News
  • Mehrdad Mehdipour was arrested on June 22 at Mohamad Faridi’s Colorado Springs home by federal agents during a national immigration raid—Faridi said the arrest was based on lies since Mehdipour had been paroled in 2023 to escape religious persecution, and his attorney noted that new charges have been filed ahead of a hearing on August 13 to decide his future.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • A motorcyclist died after colliding with an SUV in east Colorado Springs on Saturday after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Union Boulevard and Garmish Road—just north of Vickers Drive—when emergency responders confirmed no additional injuries.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • A man and a woman were found dead with gunshot wounds in an eastern Colorado Springs neighborhood after police responded to a shooting report on Sod House Trail—investigators are still looking into the case.  11 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center has helped preserve the iconic park for 30 years by generating $7.5 million in revenue to maintain trails and exhibits. The center offers free educational programs and interactive displays—features that will be highlighted this weekend.  11 News

  • A Denver addiction recovery facility is expanding to Colorado Springs to open a new center—designed to help men struggling with addiction.  11 News
