ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Colorado Springs police reported a car crashed into Broadmoor Nails & Spa on the 800 block of Cheyenne Meadows Road Friday night (near South Nevada Avenue), causing significant damage while no one was injured. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ A motorcycle rider died after colliding with an SUV on North Union Boulevard at the intersection with Garmish Road in northeastern Colorado Springs around 6 p.m. Saturday — police reported that bystanders attempted CPR and northbound lanes were shut down as investigators arrived. 11 News
- ➤ A car crashed into a Colorado Springs police vehicle on I-25 north of West Fillmore Street at 3:45 a.m. Saturday while an officer managed a concrete spill cleanup—police later cited the driver for careless driving and confirmed the officer was unharmed. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ Early Saturday, a driver lost control on I-25 in Colorado Springs and crashed into a police cruiser that had been blocking lanes after bricks and concrete spilled from a work vehicle—police said the officer was unharmed and the driver received a citation. 11 News

- ➤ Elizabeth Naranjo is suing two nurses (Anthony Lupo and Michelle Silva) for negligence in the death of her brother, Cristo Canett, who suffered a perforated ulcer at the county jail without receiving help, and she expects a trial to begin next year while officials say they have improved care for inmates. - ➤ A 30-year-old man named John Work walked into a northeast Colorado Springs police station on Saturday asking to be jailed before he allegedly threw a chair at officers and staff—resulting in his arrest on charges of obstructing government operations and menacing with minimal property damage reported. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Karen Logan will retire this month after a 33-year career at the El Paso County Department of Human Services where she kept services running during emergencies like the Waldo Canyon fire and COVID-19 disruptions—she managed programs such as SNAP and Medicaid that many families needed. She will soon teach social work at CSU Pueblo and help develop oncology social services at UCHealth Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. Colorado Springs Gazette
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Since July 1, Health First Colorado began reimbursing primary care clinics for mental health services through the Collaborative Care Model, which teams doctors, behavioral health coordinators, and consulting psychiatrists to treat conditions like depression and anxiety.
