CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Colorado Springs Police arrested 39-year-old Daniel Nations on July 29 and charged him with first-degree murder after a road rage incident on July 24 led to the death of 35-year-old Jacob Martinez — whose identity was confirmed by the El Paso County Coroner. KOAA News5
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Polis called for a special legislative session beginning August 21 to tackle a state budget gap caused by a federal tax-and-spending law and started a hiring freeze today to save $3 to $7 million by not filling positions that are not safety related or federally funded until January + lawmakers will also review measures like drawing down state reserves, adjusting tax policies, and cutting approved spending.
