- ➤ Two Backpack Bash events were held Saturday at Sand Creek High School in District 49 and Grand Mountain School in District 3 from 9 a.m. to noon to give free backpacks and school supplies to local kids and families. Organizers said non-district families were welcome—community resources and fun activities were available, and donations can be dropped off at Sand Creek High School until noon with more events planned in early August. 11 News
- ➤ Riders 4 Children brought joy to children recovering in the hospital on Saturday, July 26 by driving past Children’s Hospital Colorado in the city and waving to young patients, then visiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado to support families, staff, and volunteers—since starting in 2021 the group has raised over $85,000 for the charity. - ➤ Officials said the wildlife overpass under construction on I-25 between Larkspur and Monument in Greenland is 50% complete and will be the world’s largest bridge for wildlife when finished in December; the $15 million structure (spanning six lanes and nearly an acre) is expected to cut wildlife collisions by 90%.
