  • Pikes Peak United Way is hosting a back-to-school block party for families at its Family Success Center on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering backpacks, immunizations, haircuts + food trucks, games and music to help local students prepare for school.  11 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist died Saturday night in southeast Colorado Springs when the rider was thrown from the bike on Drennan Road near Springnite Drive—police are still checking what caused the crash.  11 News

  • The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is asking for help finding 79-year-old Dennis 'Dutch' Malick with cognitive impairment who was last seen on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in the 5000 block of Southmoor Dr — he is described as a white man, 6 feet tall with black hair, blue eyes, and tattoos on both arms and might be driving a 2015 gray Chevy Silverado with Colorado plate CFTJ94.  KOAA News5
  • Police confirmed a deadly crash on Drennan Road near Springnite Drive in southeast Colorado Springs where one person died—authorities are investigating details.  11 News
  • On Friday night, officers in Security-Widefield responded to a 911 call about a fight on Tranters Creek Way and found a suspect who became aggressive — deputies fired their guns and the suspect died while two deputies were injured and are expected to recover.  11 News
  • Police arrested 33-year-old Louis Losoya after he allegedly tried to burglarize an east Colorado Springs home on the 2200 block of East La Salle Street near Constitution Avenue when he entered through a basement door, fled upon confrontation, barricaded himself in a bathroom, & was treated for minor injuries before being taken to a hospital and held in El Paso County jail.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Colorado Springs officers arrested 23-year-old Sebastian Kipp on Friday near Springs Rescue Mission after a camping complaint revealed his multiple outstanding felony warrants—he allegedly kicked an officer during his arrest and is now held on bonds totaling $24,500.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • A local health campaign called Before You Trip was launched by public health advocates to teach young adults safe practices with psychedelics as Colorado begins allowing psilocybin healing centers.
