Marti Purdy of Colorado Springs won the St. Jude Dream Home giveaway on Wednesday when 11 News called her name on TV and she toured her new home with anchor Lindsey Boetsch.
Purdy, who had long supported the giveaway by buying tickets with her late husband Neal, said she was in shock and grateful for the win — a tribute to their commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A Fort Carson soldier was charged after police reported he kidnapped a woman and sexually assaulted her in Quail Lake Park early last week — he was arrested Wednesday and now faces charges of First Degree Kidnapping, Sexual Assault and Felony Menacing.
Starz Theater Company is putting on Fiddler on the Roof with 80 kids and teens from Turning Pointe School of Dance and the community at Ent Center for the Arts.
The show began yesterday and will run through Saturday — giving local families more chances to enjoy the performance.
Manitou Springs City Council approved a revised grant for a new mural on the east side of the Rockey Art Museum by artist Natalia Pulido, who will complete the work by the end of 2025—council members also adopted an emergency ordinance for accessory dwelling units to comply with state law with further recommendations coming later.
On July 14, Mayor Yemi Mobolade vetoed a City ordinance that would let City Council ask nonprofits for a share of marijuana sales funds for public safety, mental health, and PTSD treatment for veterans—Council said it may override the veto with six votes.
