- ➤ After Sunday's hail storm damaged roofs, siding, gardens, and cars in southern Colorado Springs, homeowners inspected their properties and called for repairs. Local experts warned that door-to-door sales can lack proper credentials + homeowners should only hire licensed contractors + check local recommendations to ensure quality work. 11 News
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ UFCW Local announced it reached a tentative agreement with Safeway, ending the strike that began in mid-June in several Colorado cities including Colorado Springs—Albertsons has not yet commented on the deal. The union stated on July 5 that the agreement is fully recommended and the strike is over. 11 News

- ➤ On July 2, Colorado Springs Police found a stolen Subaru near North Nevada Avenue and Garden of the Gods Road—detectives and tactical units, along with K9 Kylo, tracked a suspect carrying a loaded handgun who surrendered peacefully in a parking lot—recovering the weapon. FOX21
- ➤ A 76-year-old woman with dementia went missing Monday near Fountain—she was last seen in the 7000 block of Woodstock wearing a blue and red top with jeans and may have been walking her dog around 1 p.m. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ A Colorado Springs family lost their home on July 4 when illegal fireworks ignited a blaze that officials are investigating as arson — the survivors escaped with their lives while one cat remains missing. KOAA News5

- ➤ Olympic City USA will host the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum Festival from Thursday through Sunday, offering free events like movie nights that begin at 8:30 p.m. during the festival—visitors can also enjoy free museum entry on Saturday and Sunday along with interactive exhibits and athlete appearances. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ May passenger traffic at Colorado Springs Airport reached 220,982—a 1.9% increase from May last year—with an average load factor of 85.6% that fell by 2.3% while seat availability rose by 5.7%. The report also noted that Southwest’s seasonal Cancun service started on June 7, American Airlines began daily nonstop Chicago service on June 5, and Southwest will launch year-round San Diego flights on October 2. - ➤ On Monday, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office welcomed K9 Mako from the Fountain Police Department, where he served from April 2023 to May 2025. K9 Mako—credited with 85 narcotics detection missions that led to over 70 seizures and 42 arrests—will now help improve patrol and narcotics efforts. KOAA News5
