- ➤ A shooting in Security-Widefield on July 4 killed two people and closed Highway 85 for about seven hours after police responded to a 911 call for a robbery near Main Street — detectives are investigating a person of interest and a DUI crash involving a deputy's car. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ On Thursday night police responded at 9:42 p.m. on the 1600 block of South Nevada Ave after a stabbing in which a man was injured during an altercation with an unidentified suspect—he was treated on the scene without further care as the investigation continues. 11 News
- ➤ The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has issued a missing person alert for 85-year-old Joann Wilkerson—she was last seen at 1095 Western Drive near Peterson and Galley Roads in Cimarron Hills, and her description lists her as 5’3, 170 lbs with brown eyes, black hair, and a brown and white wig. - ➤ Colorado Springs Police are searching for a missing 13-year-old — Ryan Kwiecien, a Hispanic male with brown hair and hazel eyes who is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs around 190 pounds — who was last seen Thursday at 7:40 p.m. near his home on the 8300 block of Chancellor Drive near Research Parkway and Austin Bluffs Parkway. 11 News
- ➤ On Thursday, Colorado Springs police arrested Wyatt Bonner after he shot a neighbor's dog during a dog fight in a hotel parking lot on South Nevada Avenue—he is accused of second-degree assault as the bullet injured the dog's owner and the dog was later euthanized. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ On July 3 around 11:45 a.m. a Colorado Springs man named Wyatt Bonner was charged with Second Degree Assault after he shot an aggressive dog that attacked his pet in the parking lot of a hotel— the bullet also injured the other dog's owner and Bonner was taken to the Criminal Justice Center. - ➤ Visitors to Green Mountain Falls have surged as the Green Box Arts Festival turns into a major event thanks to the massive outdoor art installation Off the Beaten Path — created by artist Patrick Shem and suspended over the town lake. Festival executive Scott Levy said the 6,000-square-foot installation made up of 35,700 pieces of kite fabric and rope is drawing hundreds of visitors daily and boosting social media interest.
