- ➤ Daniel Giffin — 17-year-old son of Torie Jennings Giffin — died late Sunday after battling aggressive brain cancer, and his family said he gained strength, courage, and hope during his fight. A celebration of life will be held Monday, June 30 at 10 a.m. at Switchbacks FC stadium Weidner Field. Pikes Peak Bulletin
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The 51-year-old suspect Jesus Ramirez Jr. was killed in an officer-involved shooting on Monday at 1 a.m. on Michelle Court in Colorado Springs after he fired his weapon at officers who ordered him to drop it. 11 News

- ➤ Colorado College has named Dr. Manya Whitaker as its 15th President—she served as interim leader since July 1, 2024—and her 14 years at the college have prepared her to guide the school into its next chapter. KOAA News5
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Colorado’s Court of Appeals dismissed a lawsuit brought by Flying W Ranch and a local resident that challenged the City Council’s approval of a 60-foot water tank in the Mountain Shadows neighborhood. The judges ruled there was no reasonable alternative, stating only the Council (which also serves on the Utilities Board) could hear appeals from the Planning Commission. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ An ordinance will expand legal e-bike use on urban trails starting July 1, but riders will have to wait for access on top outdoor destinations until later phases update the rules. The city's Parks Department said Phase I will include a safety campaign with signage and educational events—these measures aim to encourage proper trail use and protect conservation areas.
