  • CSPD said it is working with event organizers and law enforcement to ensure Pikes Peak Pride is safe for everyone; the festival runs today at Alamo Square with Mayor Mobolade reading the proclamation to mark 35 years of Pride — officials advise people to plan extra time for heavy traffic and parking troubles.  11 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A bicyclist named Thomas Kenny, 44, died in hospital on June 6 after he was hit by a vehicle on May 31 at the intersection of North Stone Avenue — Nichols Boulevard in northeast Colorado Springs and investigators are still trying to determine who was at fault.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Roger Jackson, a 71-year-old man with dementia from Tennessee, went missing in El Paso County during his road trip when he was last seen near Gold Camp Road—closed after a washout from recent rain—and he is driving a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country with Tennessee plate BTF5858; police ask anyone who sees him to call EPSO at 719-390-5555.  FOX21
  • A 47-year-old man was arrested on 44 charges after a vehicle pursuit in downtown Colorado Springs as a multi-agency operation led police to his hotel room on Rusina Road, where he is held on a $235,000 bond—he faces charges including burglary, theft, identity theft, and possession of a controlled substance.  11 News
  • Court documents show that a camera captured the fatal stabbing of Camden Mills at Greentree Village Apartments on Tuesday night—police arrested 22-year-old Daveione Manning early Wednesday, and he now faces a first-degree murder charge.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • An El Paso County judge denied a motion to limit pretrial publicity for Hailey Cole, 43, accused of homicide in connection with the deaths of Stephen Walker, 37, and Timmy Huston, 65, and she remains in Park County jail with her next court appearance set for Monday.  Colorado Springs Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Jared Polis and local hunger groups have written to Senate Agriculture committee leaders and Colorado Congressional delegation to oppose proposed SNAP changes that would require the state to pay between 10 and 15 percent of program costs due to its 8.61 percent error rate—this could force benefit cuts impacting 617,000 Coloradans.  Colorado Public Radio
  • The Colorado Department of Transportation has finished its draft plan to improve walking, biking, and rolling and is asking for public comments until July 18—local governments and advocacy groups helped shape the update to the state’s first active transportation strategy from 2012.  11 News
