  • Colorado Springs city officials and partners will host a clean-up event along Midland Trail on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon—volunteers will meet at Vermijo Park to clean the area from 14th to 31st Street, with extra help possibly covering the entire trail.  11 News
  • Palmer High School is in early planning of an expansion that may lead to demolishing three historic Victorian houses at the corner of North Weber and East St. Vrain—preservation advocates say these unique structures, featuring details like a witch’s cap porch and varied wooden surfaces, deserve to be saved and integrated into future campus designs. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcycle rider died after a crash in eastern Colorado Springs near Dublin Boulevard and Peterson Road before 5:30 p.m. on Saturday—police said the rider suffered fatal injuries at Peterson Road and Hawk Wind and closed Peterson for the evening.  11 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Colorado Springs police arrested 39-year-old Jose Rodriguez after a single-vehicle crash early Saturday when he was suspected of driving under the influence and attempting to flee on foot—officials say the East Bijou Street and Interstate 25 intersection is under repair with temporary four-way stop measures in place.  Colorado Springs Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Car enthusiasts and families gathered on Saturday at Sierra High School for the 41st annual Fiesta and Car Show hosted by El Cinco de Mayo Inc.—over 65 entries including cars, motorcycles, and bicycles were displayed while musical acts and dancing celebrated Hispanic culture and raised funds for community scholarships.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Inside Out Youth Services hosted its tenth annual Youth Pride and Queer Prom on May 31 with the 'Pink Pony Disco' theme, drawing around 200 local youths aged 13 to 24 who enjoyed vendors, live drag performances, and styling services—Inside Out announced its next Youth Pride event will take place the first weekend in June.  FOX21
  • Cheyenne Mountain Zoo welcomed one-year-old giraffe Kinda on May 28 when she arrived from Brookfield Zoo in Chicago—she quickly settled in and made friends with her new herd as visitors can soon feed her during open hours.  FOX21
