- ➤ Colorado Springs welcomed Launchpad, a 50-unit transitional apartment complex for young adults exiting homelessness or at risk, which nearly opened yesterday with a planned ribbon-cutting next Wednesday and tenant move-ins scheduled for early June. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 17-year-old is facing charges for an alleged hit-and-run after he struck 70-year-old Fred Brockway, who was crossing near the airport on May 11 and later died at a local hospital, police said+the driver of the gold vehicle fled the scene. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ A man was arrested yesterday in connection with a road rage shooting reported on February 15th at the 1000 block of 21st Street in Colorado Springs—police say suspect Daniel Willams fired multiple rounds at a victim's car, and no one was injured while he was booked on charges including attempted murder. - ➤ On May 16, Colorado Springs police responded to a call at Park Hill Shopping Center on East Pikes Peak Avenue where the El Paso County Coroner’s Office later identified Bryan Parada — age 38 — as the victim, and 49-year-old Emmanuel Cooley was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after an argument escalated into gun violence. - ➤ The U.S. Air Force Academy invited volunteers to help place over 1,600 American flags on veteran graves at the Academy Cemetery on Friday at 9:45 a.m. Volunteers will meet at the Memorial Wall and do not need to RSVP (the flags are provided by Academy staff). 11 News
- ➤ Colorado lawmakers remain in a standoff over changes to the state’s first anti-discrimination law for AI systems with only nine months left before businesses must comply — business groups and school organizations are calling for a delay while consumer advocates insist on strong protections. - ➤ Colorado Springs Utilities will start the nearly $400 million Eastern Wastewater System Expansion next year to add 18 miles of pipeline and two stations that will serve areas near the airport and Banning Lewis Ranch.
