  • Hey Neighbor (a local nonprofit) is organizing 150 community tables across Colorado Springs to celebrate the state’s 150th anniversary this summer. Neighbors will join for meals and conversation at various locations until October.  KOAA News5

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tech investor Dan Caruso led a group of entrepreneurs who urged lawmakers to ease strict rules — rules that have driven many tech companies to invest outside Colorado since 2019.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • A 2025 report from the Colorado Chamber of Commerce showed Colorado is now the third most expensive state to live in, with housing and everyday costs rising sharply. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ascent Christian School introduces a 30-foot rappel tower built from shipping containers, expanding its outdoor adventure program. A ribbon cutting is set for May 21 at 1 p.m. with Mayor Yemi Mobolade attending the event.  KOAA News5
  • Peyton High School recognizes student leader Trent Gregg (Best and Brightest winner with a 4.25 GPA) who launched a peer tutoring program and led a winter clothing drive that collected 15 bags donated to Springs Rescue Mission. SPORTS NEWS

  • Fountain-Fort Carson senior Alexa Queen defended her 5A state title in the 300-meter hurdles at JeffCo Stadium Saturday with a time of 42.31 seconds, despite a season of illness. The athlete will join Duke University's track team after graduation and said she was grateful for her supportive crowd + family.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • The Avalanche practiced Saturday after a win over the Wild despite missing key players due to injuries — coach Jared Bednar said several players remain day-to-day.   • Palmer Ridge’s boys’ 4x100 relay team won the 4A state crown Saturday at Jeffco Stadium by finishing 41.72 seconds with an alternate stepping in after a runner’s injury (their 'next man up' spirit ensured the victory).  Colorado Springs Gazette
