  • Today, Colorado Springs Reads opened a pop-up library called Reading at the Rock inside Christ the King Lutheran Church to fill the gap left by the Rockrimmon branch closure in December 2024—families signed up for library cards and browsed over 3,000 books while organizers continue a legal challenge over the shutdown.  KOAA News5

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday at about 11:45 a.m., a pedestrian was fatally struck by a northbound train near East Mill Street and South Nevada Avenue when he reportedly stepped in front of the train—officers said southbound traffic was delayed while they collected evidence.  Colorado Springs Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities arrested Angelo Espinoza (29) after a two-vehicle crash on Sunday morning at the intersection of Platte Avenue and Murray Boulevard when his stolen Hyundai ran a red light and he was carrying a handgun, with police saying speed, drugs and alcohol were factors that led to DUI, DUID and other charges with outstanding felony warrants.  11 News
  • On Saturday night, community members stopped a shooter on South Academy Boulevard—three people were transported to the hospital with stable injuries.  KOAA News5
  • On Sunday, Colorado Springs police looked for armed suspects after a robbery at a store on the 2900 block of Galley Road at about 1:50 p.m.—the robbers took cash and merchandise while no one was injured.  Colorado Springs Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Mother's Day, several mothers climbed the Manitou Incline, conquering nearly 3,000 stairs and 2,000 feet of vertical gain to honor their strength and share humorous challenges such as changing diapers mid-climb—efforts that inspire their daily determination. They said the climb fuels their energy and encourages their children to embrace physical challenges.  11 News

  • City officials in Manitou Springs said mandatory water restrictions will take effect for residents and businesses because water turbidity is high. Outdoor watering is banned starting Sunday + residents and businesses must save water indoors, with an update coming by noon today.  11 News
  • Manitou Springs imposed temporary water restrictions that began Sunday due to unusually cloudy water from elevated turbidity—residents and businesses must limit outdoor watering and postpone non-essential indoor activities. City officials will update the water condition by noon today, and the restrictions will stay in place until further notice.  Colorado Springs Gazette
