Colorado Springs Police arrested a 25-year-old man on May 5 after he threatened a victim with a handgun during a road rage incident near Platte Avenue and Arrawanna Street at about 12:26 p.m.—the suspect, Kyle Harvey, was later stopped at Fountain Boulevard and Murray Boulevard and a handgun was recovered.
On April 11, police said that two speeding vehicles on I-25 collided near Garden of the Gods Road, causing a crash that killed Salvador Diaz and injured several others—authorities arrested one driver and recovered a white Dodge Charger on April 30, but they are still searching for the other racer.
State lawmakers rejected a bill offered by Gov. Jared Polis to add a 1% fee on homeowners insurance policies—money that would have supported hail-proof roof grants and reinsurance to lower wildfire risks.
The Senate Finance Committee voted 2—6 on Tuesday morning as members expressed concern that extra fees would hurt homeowners.
