  • Coldwell Banker Realty's Colorado Springs branch is teaming with National Mill Dog Rescue to host a pet expo and adoption event on Saturday morning at 1755 Telstar Drive (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) to help needy animals find homes, and attendees are encouraged to donate pet supplies.  11 News

CRIME NEWS

  • The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office asked for help finding a missing 12-year-old boy, Donald Cooper (a black male, 5 feet tall, 100 pounds, in a light blue hoodie and Adidas shoes) who was last seen near Sproul Junior High School on Thursday around 1:30 p.m.  11 News
  • Justin Kula was sentenced to 48 years in prison on Friday after he struck Colorado parole officer Christine Guerin Sandoval with his car near I-25 west of downtown Colorado Springs — the jury also convicted him of manslaughter, third-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident causing death and vehicular homicide.  11 News
  • The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is asking local residents to help find missing at-risk child Donald Cooper, who was last seen near Sproul Jr. High at 235 Sumac Dr on May 1 at 1:30 p.m. (he is 12 years old, about 5 feet tall, and was wearing a light blue hoodie, glasses, and black and white Adidas).  KOAA News5
  • The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is asking for help locating 12-year-old Donald Cooper, who was last seen on May 1 around 1:30 p.m. near Sproul Jr. High School in the Security area and is described as 5 feet tall, 100 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and a light blue hoodie with glasses.  Colorado Springs Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Visitors have been paying for parking in Old Colorado City for over two years, and officials are finalizing a new parking plan that aims to balance parking turnover with business needs — local business owners report a drop in foot traffic and call for more pedestrian-friendly streets. Public works director Richard Mulledy said the plan may take five years to complete and could include improvements like bike lanes and adjusted rates based on community feedback.  11 News
  • South Academy Boulevard closed temporarily between Bradley Road and US Highway 85/87 from 7 p.m. Friday to 4:30 a.m. Saturday for construction, and drivers used a detour via Bradley Road east, Main Street south, and US 85/87. CDOT said caution was needed as lanes narrowed and merge lengths were reduced — work on slope paving and the new northbound ramp alignment was in progress.  11 News
  • The City of Colorado Springs will begin a trail reroute project along the Palmer Red Rock Loop at the Section 16 trailhead in Bear Creek Canyon Park on Sunday to replace deteriorating steps with a 400-foot sustainable trail—officials ask trail users to respect work zones and expect completion by the end of June.  11 News
