ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday at 5:14 p.m., Black Forest Fire Rescue and the Falcon Fire Department responded to a three-car crash at Spiritwood Loop and Murphy Road—pulling a driver pinned in the vehicle and airlifting them by Flight for Life to a hospital—while medics checked everyone else.  11 News

CRIME NEWS

  • The FBI said scammers stole $243,517,403 in 2024 from Colorado victims — with the largest losses coming from investment fraud at 90 million, business email compromise at 48 million, and personal data breaches at 23 million — and also noted 14,848 scam complaints statewide, with victims aged 60 losing 74,462,501 in total.  FOX21

  • MeadowGrass Music Festival 2025 will be held from May 23-25 at Black Forest and brings 16 years of live music with headliners like The Rumble, The Mother Hips & Neighbor alongside workshops, camping, a beer festival and a songwriter contest with applications closing May 1. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Cheyenne Mountain Zoo announced a new African penguin chick that hatched on April 8 and grew from 82 grams to 983 grams at 22 days old. The zoo stressed that the species is critically endangered—wild breeding pairs have fallen below 10,000, raising concerns about their survival in the wild.  11 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Springs Police enforced expired registration laws between April 20th and 26th by issuing 409 citations, 66 driver's license citations and impounding 25 vehicles with plates expired for more than one year—other agencies also participated and more enforcement details will follow.  KOAA News5

  • LaChaka recalled that when her daughter, Alana, was 6 she stopped turning her head before an MRI found she had Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and received vital treatment at St. Jude that helped her return to activities like piano, golf, and volleyball over the past 7 years—tickets for the Dream Home Giveaway are on sale for $100 with funds going directly to support families like hers.  11 News
  • On Tuesday, April 29, the DEA reported that in Colorado five people die from overdoses each day, with three of those deaths linked to fentanyl—a potent synthetic drug far stronger than morphine or heroin that kills nearly 100,000 Americans yearly.  FOX21
