ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fort Carson fire started Monday around 5:30 p.m. and burned 800 acres after controlled burns helped contain its spread on the base east of Gates 10 + 12 along Colorado 115; officials said no structures were threatened, no injuries occurred, and smoke is expected.  Colorado Springs Gazette

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kratos, which employs 536 people in the city, was awarded a contract worth up to $446.8M by the Space Force last week to design and sustain ground systems that track hypersonic missiles (local Auria is partnering on the project) as part of the Resilient Missile Warning and Tracking program.  Colorado Springs Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • A UCHealth facility in north Colorado Springs was evacuated Tuesday after patients reported a natural gas odor, prompting crews to secure the area at Interquest Parkway and Voyager Parkway. The shelter-in-place ended just before 4 p.m. with no injuries noted.  11 News
  • Cheyenne Mountain Zoo said its 21-year-old grizzly bear Emmett is making good progress nearly two months after surgery removed a cancerous mass from his tail. Emmett receives daily care with antibiotics and pain medications while staying away from his wrestling partner — Digger.  11 News

  • Colorado College will open its NCHC hockey schedule on Oct. 30-31 by hosting Minnesota Duluth and will later join the new postseason format that includes all 10 teams in best-of-three series starting March 5-7. The Tigers will also play road series later in the season.  Colorado Springs Gazette
