  • On Friday afternoon, heavy wet snow fell over the Pikes Peak region but kids in southwest Colorado Springs gathered at Ivywild Park for their annual Easter egg hunt. The hunt lasted longer than usual as children searched through the snow for hidden eggs—some said the weather made the event more fun—while a few planned to return after the snow melts.  11 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash near Pikes Peak International Raceway on I-25 shut down southbound lanes between exit 122 and exit 119 Sunday night — the Colorado Department of Transportation did not provide a timeline for reopening.  11 News

  • Customers gathered for an outdoor event outside the North Academy store on Sunday afternoon to enjoy food trucks, games, a disc jockey, and a 6-foot Easter bunny during a 4/20 celebration marking the first Sunday since recreational marijuana sales began in Colorado Springs. Managers said product delivery delays on Tuesday, April 15 left some stores without inventory — with eager customers returning later to shop.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Manitou Springs band Moon Veil has released its debut album The Unknown, a psychedelic rock record recorded over 20 months at Colorado Sound Studios—showing a mix of experimental sounds. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Colorado Springs and Denver have risen today with prices increasing 13 cents to $2.98 and 7 cents to $2.97 per gallon while Pueblo dropped 3.5 cents to $2.89. Although the national average falls, Colorado’s state average rose 6 cents—experts say rising oil prices may soon stall the drop.  11 News

  • Today, multiple schools in southern Colorado canceled classes as they investigated reports of threats (officials are working to resolve the situation) to ensure student safety.  11 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Springs police are cracking down on expired car registrations this week as part of a surge enforcement that started yesterday and runs until Saturday—after issuing 351 citations during the last surge, officials said they will continue checking even after the period ends.  11 News
  • The City of Colorado Springs said a construction project on Dublin Boulevard will close the road from Black Forest Road and Shimmering Creek Drive to Peterson Road on Tuesday from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and on Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.—drivers will follow a detour through Tutt Boulevard, Stetson Hills Boulevard and Peterson Road.  11 News
