  • The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region cared for two stray dogs—Reggie and Willow—who arrived on a cold day with little strength and weight; foster care helped them gain weight until they were ready for adoption and found loving homes.  FOX21

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist died after a crash on Thursday at the intersection of Platte Avenue and Prospect Street east of downtown Colorado Springs — police responded at about 5:20 p.m. and the crash remains under investigation.  Colorado Springs Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • Limited body camera footage of the March 31 officer-involved shooting in downtown Colorado Springs was released by the police—38-year-old Nathaniel Altman died after he resisted commands and moved toward an occupied vehicle, and the investigation is now being handled by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • A man wanted for felony domestic violence assault by strangulation and felony kidnapping was arrested in Colorado Springs, police said.  11 News
  • The undocumented semi-truck driver Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, jailed after causing the fatal crash on US 285 that killed 64-year-old Scott Miller near Conifer last June, was deported back to Mexico on April 16—his record shows multiple ICE removals over the years.  KOAA News5
  • Colorado Springs Police are seeking 13-year-old Somaya Schmidt who was last seen on April 18 around 9:00 p.m. near her residence in the 2500 block of Wimbleton Court and is described as black (5'7, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes) wearing a light off-the-shoulder sweatshirt, black leggings and black and white Nike shoes.  11 News
  • Colorado Springs Police are asking for help finding 12-year-old Savhene Franklin, who was last seen around 8 a.m. Thursday leaving her home in the 1500 block of South Chelton Road near Verde Drive — winter alerts went into effect Friday and will expire today as snow is expected.  KOAA News5
  • Return to Nature owner Jon Hallford will be sentenced in state court on August 22 after his hearing was delayed because Judge Eric Bentley said he must wait for a federal sentence (the investigation found nearly 190 improperly stored bodies), while Carie Hallford is set for trial on Sept. 8.  Colorado Springs Gazette
