- ➤ A study by Luxury Link showed Colorado Springs hotels grew 13.5% from 2019 to 2023, reaching 168 hotels — the national growth was 7.3%. Colorado Springs Business Journal
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Colorado Springs man with outstanding warrants for domestic violence, menacing, and illegal firearm possession was taken into custody on April 16th after he fled from officers on Wood Avenue—he was caught by K—9 Kai, treated for minor bite injuries and then booked into jail. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A candy-stills installation by Felix Gonzalez-Torres titled Untitled L.A. will be on exhibit at the Project Space at Galleries of Contemporary Art at Ent Center for the Arts from Thursday through May 23—visitors can take pieces of candy as the work is replenished to reflect themes of loss and remembrance. - ➤ Construction will begin this summer on the US 24 and Peterson Interchange near Peterson Space Force Base to ease traffic along the busy road. 11 News
- ➤ On April 15, six Colorado Springs City Council members—four new and two re-elected—took their oaths at a ceremony at the Pioneers Museum with local musical performances. They gave speeches on democracy and community work, and later elected Lynette Crow-Iverson as president and Brian Risley as president pro tempore. Pikes Peak Bulletin
- ➤ On April 17th, El Paso County launched a Strategic Plan Dashboard to give residents a real-time look at its progress on key goals — including improved infrastructure, stronger public trust, better service delivery and enhanced community health and safety. El Paso County
- ➤ Sen. John Hickenlooper fielded questions at a UCCS town hall in Colorado Springs Thursday night on issues including the potential move of Space Command and immigration enforcement, with a veteran questioning the move and an attendee raising concerns about detentions—he urged local lawmakers to oppose any bill aiding the relocation and called on citizens to pressure ICE.
