- ➤ After Colorado Springs voters approved Question 300 in November, the city began issuing permits that let medical marijuana businesses, including Native Roots after its 60-day review process started on February 10, to sell recreational marijuana, and sales have now started after April 14—demonstrating ongoing market expansion. - ➤ Colorado Springs Airport will soon begin seasonal non-stop international flights to Cancún on June 7 via Southwest Airlines — a new 16,000 square foot federal inspection station was built at a cost of $8.4 million without using local taxpayer dollars. - ➤ During his trial, Nicholas Jordan, 25, accused of fatally shooting two UCCS students on Feb. 16, faced courtroom evidence from a two‑hour detective interview—his keycard use, a handgun found in his car, and inconsistent testimony left him without a clear alibi—as his trial continues Tuesday morning. - ➤ The Colorado Springs Police Department said that 15 year old Orrin Bernella, who is legally deaf, was last seen on Monday at 2:15 p.m. near the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind — he was described as 5 foot 10 and 145 pound with blue eyes, brown hair, a blue striped shirt, black shorts, tennis shoes, and a mustard yellow backpack and may be headed toward Castle Pines. 11 News
- ➤ Colorado Springs police arrested suspect Darryl McLaurin, a 35 year old man, near a fast food restaurant at about 10 a.m.—an employee reported that a young girl was with him at an apartment complex and officers quickly confirmed she was not his caregiver, reuniting her safely with her parents while McLaurin now faces charges including Second Degree Kidnapping, Enticement of a Child, and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. 11 News
- ➤ On Monday, an interview tape was played in court that showed Nicholas Jordan’s responses about his whereabouts before, during and after a UCCS dorm shooting that killed Celie Rain Montgomery and Samuel Knopp on February 16 — detectives said his prints matched those on the gun and casings from the scene. 11 News

- ➤ The City of Colorado Springs is leading a regional housing needs assessment across El Paso County to gather key data on housing supply and challenges. The project will create geographic-specific recommendations and an online dashboard—residents are encouraged to share their views through an online survey. City of Colorado Springs
- ➤ The Colorado Springs City Council election on April 1 had a low turnout with 78,185 votes cast out of 332,001 registered and more than $100,000 in dark money spent failing to sway most races—only one dark money-backed candidate won in a competitive contest.
