  • Today, the 41st annual Space Symposium begins at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs with 72 new exhibitors and six outdoor exhibits showcasing space technology (including rovers, lunar landers, and AI); leaders in commercial, civil and government sectors will share insights until Thursday.  KOAA News5

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • One person was displaced from a home near the airport after a fire ignited Sunday afternoon — firefighters arrived at 4:30 p.m. and had the blaze controlled by 4:50 p.m. with no injuries reported and the cause still under investigation.  11 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A Colorado Chamber Foundation report shows that since 2022 the state lost 34 public company headquarters, costing 13,600 jobs amid burdensome tax and regulatory policies. The report warns companies may continue relocating to states like Texas if these challenges persist.  Colorado Springs Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The James Irwin Charter High School robotics team qualifies for the 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship in St. Louis from April 21 to 24—they earned their spot by winning the V5 Robotics Pikes Peak League and Yeti Campus Robotics — Everest League Championship, with members preparing for the competition.  KOAA News5

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office lifted an evacuation order east of Colorado Springs after a brush fire near North Curtis and Garrett roads on Sunday, and officials confirmed it is safe for residents to return.  Colorado Springs Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The SBA announced it will offer drought disaster loans to Colorado small businesses and nonprofits affected since the drought began on Nov. 1. Loans up to $2 million will cover working capital needs and exclude most agricultural operations (except small aquaculture), with payments due 12 months after disbursement.  11 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Avalanche coach Jared Bednar will miss the last two road games against Edmonton and Calgary after suffering facial fractures and a corneal abrasion from a puck in Saturday's overtime loss; assistant coaches Dave Hakstol and Nolan Pratt will lead the team as Bednar is expected to recover (no surgery needed).  Colorado Springs Gazette
