ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A kitchen fire at a north Colorado Springs townhome displaced residents Saturday; crews arrived at 3:30 a.m. and contained the fire in 20 minutes — no injuries were reported.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • A fire began Friday night at a construction equipment storage site near Peterson Space Force Base, damaging two camper trailers, one vehicle and some vegetation plus preventing spread to nearby structures as no injuries were reported and investigators are determining the cause.  11 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The 41st Space Symposium begins tomorrow (Monday, Apr. 13) in Colorado Springs with a focus on the Artemis program and renewed moon missions as NASA and private companies gather to build a sustained human presence on the moon and boost the local economy.  Colorado Springs Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Palmer High School celebrated its 150th anniversary this weekend with students, alumni and staff touring historic displays and reflecting on traditions — campus renovations to modernize the facility are underway and set for completion in 2028.  11 News
  • Palmer High School alumni gathered Saturday to plan a 150th anniversary open house scheduled for April 25 at 10:00 a.m. – the event will include guided tours, yearbook exchanges and discussions on the school’s future.  KOAA News5

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Springs Utilities reports about half of its normal water supply from this winter's low snowpack, so residents must limit outdoor watering to three days per week; authorities warn that if supplies decline further, restrictions may tighten — similar measures are already in place in nearby cities.  Colorado Springs Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Rebekah Boehner, a renter at Vue at Spring Creek in southeast Colorado Springs, lost $20 in fees after a junk fee ban took effect on Jan. 1, yet her nine-month lease renewed at $292 higher.
