BUSINESS NEWS

  • Colorado Springs based Wayfarer Vans was named Best Camper Van of 2025 by Outside Magazine — founder Horgan said his idea began during a soggy camping trip and the company grew from one car garage startup to a key player in the camper market.  Colorado Springs Business Journal
  • In March, the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department issued 29 ground-up permits with an estimated valuation of $60 million for commercial construction near Colorado Springs—officials said this move could spur further development—as the local market expands.  Colorado Springs Business Journal
  • Governor Jared Polis announced on April 9th that Swisspod will build a new manufacturing and assembly facility in Colorado Springs to develop its emission free Hyperloop transportation system. The expansion comes with up to $918,000 in tax credits and extra incentives from city and county officials—contingent on meeting job creation and salary goals.  FOX21

CRIME NEWS

  • Colorado Springs police are searching for 12-year-old Savhene Franklin, last seen on the 1700 block of Chelton Road near Carmel Community School, and she is a black female who measures 5 ft 4 in and weighs about 100 pounds — anyone with information is asked to call 7194447000.  KOAA News5
  • Colorado Springs Police are asking for help finding a missing 13-year-old girl last seen in eastern Colorado Springs; anyone with information is urged to contact the department promptly.  11 News
  • Police say car thefts are down this year, but delivery driver Connor McLeod had his Honda Accord stolen twice—first near a gas station on Uintah Street and then again near Sand Creek High School while waiting for a tow, leaving him without his car and his job.  KOAA News5
  • Opening statements began Tuesday in the trial of Nicholas Jordan, who is accused of killing two people in a UCCS dorm last February—jury selection occurred Monday and prosecutors presented evidence including a handgun with matching bullets and witness accounts as the trial is expected to last around two weeks.  Denver7

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A wildfire mitigation project in Stratton Open Space was completed in March, with crews removing dense vegetation and ladder fuels from over 266 acres to curb wildfire risks. The Colorado Springs Fire Department and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services led the effort with TABOR funding and urged homeowners to clear flammable vegetation.  11 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Springs voters will decide on June 17 whether to approve the annexation of Karman Line Addition No. 6, covering 1,876.24 acres northwest of the Bradley Road and Curtis Road intersection; military and overseas ballots will be mailed on May 2 while city voters receive theirs on May 23 and must return them by 7:00 p.m. on election day. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is asking anyone who sees an animal that might be a raccoon with mange to report it to their Pueblo office.  KOAA News5
