- ➤ On Saturday, April 5, families dealing with autism gathered at the Pikes Peak United Way Family Success Center on Verde Drive as the De La Vega Foundation hosted the Together Rising Conference, offering free haircuts, massages, health products, and community support (the Gonzales family shared their personal experience to help guide the event). The foundation, which began in 2024 to aid local residents and serve as a resource hub, aims to support all children on the spectrum. FOX21
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Colorado Springs firefighters responded to a two-car crash north of Palmer Park just after 3 p.m. that shut down all westbound lanes on Austin Bluffs and Meadowland and led to four people being taken to the hospital while police considered speed a factor. 11 News
- ➤ Colorado Springs firefighters rescued a driver after a car got stuck in a large water drainage near Astrozon and Powers in southeast Colorado Springs on April 5th. 11 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities arrested four people, including Ami Gallegos (18) and Noah Watkins (20), on April 4 in connection with a January shooting in Security-Widefield that killed one person, and they are still searching for a fifth suspect identified as 20-year-old Zion Alexander Tilmon who is considered armed and dangerous. - ➤ Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College has released its new theater season for 2025 to 2026 and announced upcoming museum exhibits. The season opens Sept 18 with Ms. Holmes and Ms. Watson, Apt. 2B—a comedy reimagining classic detectives—while Mary Chenoweth works will be on display starting in June. Colorado Springs Gazette

- ➤ Friday's storm left roads in Colorado Springs wet but clear while Teller County saw roads become snow covered and icy, causing several slide-offs and a major roadway to shut down for a few hours. Snowplows cleared Teller roads early Saturday—travelers are advised to allow extra time until temperatures rise above freezing. 11 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Colorado lawmakers recently blasted the Department of Early Childhood for not warning them sooner about an impending funding shortfall that could have cut therapy hours for young children. The Joint Budget Committee approved more than $16 million to keep services unchanged for now and the department will update its plans in June—steps that have reassured many Colorado families.
