- ➤ Recreational marijuana sales in Colorado Springs will begin on April 15 as existing medical marijuana stores expand operations following a successful ballot initiative passed last November — 15 stores, including two Silver Stem and two Apothecary Farms locations, have received licenses and are hiring new budtenders to meet rising demand. - ➤ Early February, Luna’s Sustainable Fashion Boutique opened along North Nevada Avenue in Downtown Colorado Springs. Owner Tiffany Wismer was inspired by her cat Luna’s habit of bringing clothing items to her door and now offers sustainable, consigned clothing from local residents—keeping quality fashion affordable and out of landfills. - ➤ Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating a robbery at a jewelry store where surveillance video showed two suspects using a sledgehammer and pickaxe to break in on March 23 and steal entire jewelry displays. 11 News
- ➤ Officers in Fountain responded to an armed robbery on September 24th on Fountain Mesa Road and shot 31-year-old Brenden Burningham after he tried to run and raised his hand while his hands were in his pockets, and officials ruled the shooting justified while he is expected in court later this year (no weapon was found). - ➤ Colorado Springs artist Lorelei Beckstrom opens her new mini-series exhibition 'The Day After Tomorrow: Chapter One: Today' today at Surface Gallery as part of an exhibit running until April 25 that also features works by local artists. Her paintings use a gold element throughout and hidden canvases that reveal secret worlds—an approach she said freed her creative process. Colorado Springs Gazette

- ➤ Starting fall 2025, Pikes Peak State College will offer six new engineering degrees that let students transfer to Colorado universities. The college will upgrade its Rampart Range Campus labs so students can use advanced 3D modeling software and in-lab 3D printers—an initiative led by Dr. McKenna Lovejoy. KOAA News5
- ➤ Today, Pikes Peak State College announced plans to offer Associate of Engineering Science degrees in aerospace, civil, industrial, mechatronics, mechanical and general engineering to support transfers to local colleges including UCCS, CSU-Pueblo, CU-Boulder, CSU-Fort Collins and the Colorado School of Mines. The college is renovating labs at Rampart Range Campus—providing students with hands-on access to new technology ahead of fall 2025. Colorado Springs Business Journal

- ➤ Richards Rubbish Roundup, a volunteer group led by Richard Skorman, collected 44,520 pounds of trash from 12 sites in Colorado Springs over the past year — safely handling sharps with Healthcare Waste Services. The group meets weekly and works with city officials to keep local waterways clean — building strong community ties as they work to prevent pollution. Colorado Public Radio

- ➤ Governor Jared Polis announced a $7.04 million wildfire mitigation grant that will fund 37 projects across 26 counties—helping El Paso County reduce risks to homes, infrastructure and forests. - ➤ The Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management is asking residents to give input on its updated Hazard Mitigation Plan for El Paso County and its eight municipalities including Colorado Springs by using a survey and hosting virtual meetings. The office will hold its first virtual meeting on April 23 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.—feedback will help shape a plan to reduce risks from natural disasters in the future. FOX21
