ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters at Fort Carson contained 44% of a 7,404-acre wildfire burning along Highway 115 southwest of Colorado Springs by strengthening control lines over recent days, and a cold front is expected tonight to drop temperatures by up to 40 degrees by tomorrow with no structures damaged.  KVOR

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local host Bob Morsch revives the classic Match Game with MAT!ch Game at Millibo Art Theatre (1626 S. Tejon St) at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The show features six panelists and four audience contestants who will play updated game questions each month until April, with a possible return in the fall.  Colorado Springs Gazette

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Local officials said that Colorado Springs collected $300,000 less than the expected $10.5 million from the LART tax in 2025, which has raised concerns over future tourism funding. Visit Colorado Springs will launch marketing campaigns to attract more visitors and support local businesses.  11 News
  • Colorado Springs Utilities will lower electric and gas rates, saving customers about $10 a month starting in April following Tuesday's Springs City council rate adjustments (lower winter natural gas costs drove the change).  KVOR
  • Colorado farmers are beginning spring planting as fertilizer costs soared 30% in recent days. Growers and lawmakers say that rising prices may be fueled by price gouging + market consolidation and call for fairer oversight.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • The Monument Fire District broke ground on its new $17 million firehouse yesterday near the Tri-Lakes YMCA and across from Lewis-Palmer High School along Jackson Creek Parkway — the project aims to improve emergency response in an area with rising call volumes and is expected to finish in about a year.  KOAA News5
