  • Camille Sharp, owner of Nō Ka ‘Oi Day Habilitation, started a program to honor her late father that helps special needs individuals build confidence and learn life skills in Colorado Springs (the initiative began as a small weekly gathering at Security Public Library and has grown to offer rides, library visits, trail walks, and volunteer activities).  KOAA News5
  • Downtown businesses in Colorado Springs are preparing for the Tejon Street Revitalization Project which begins today. A major section of downtown road will close as work starts.  11 News

CRIME NEWS

  • Colorado Springs police arrested a man suspected of armed robbery on Saturday after they found him hiding in a vehicle near North Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway, and he now faces felony and misdemeanor charges while held on $25,000 bail (stolen items and a firearm were recovered).  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • On Sunday morning, police responded at 12:54 a.m. to a grass fire on the 3600 Block of Oro Blanco Drive and soon found 20 expended—24 unexpended mortars that were collected by the Regional Explosives unit as the fire was put out by the Fire Department.  11 News
  • Early Sunday just before 1 a.m., Colorado Springs police responded to several explosion calls near the 3600 block of Oro Blanco Drive and found more than 40 mortar rounds—20 expended and 24 unexploded—as bomb squad detectives took possession of the explosives while searching for suspects.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • At 3:24 a.m. on Sunday, two suspects broke into a business on east Citadel Drive near North Academy using a sledgehammer and a pickaxe—stealing a large amount of jewelry and causing significant damage before fleeing.  11 News
  • The Colorado Springs Police Department is responding to a barricaded suspect near 4500 East Pikes Peak Avenue — residents are advised to avoid windows and doors.  11 News
