- ➤ Springs Rescue Mission marks 30 years of service by helping individuals with shelter and meals in our city. The nonprofit, which has served over 400 million meals, will host events throughout the year & deepen its community impact. 11 News
- ➤ Colorado Springs Utilities released a draft plan for improved trails and safer service roads around Pikes Peak reservoirs near North Slope. Public feedback is accepted online until the end of March + work on alternative routes and seasonal access is planned for summer. Colorado Springs Gazette

- ➤ Local icon Linda Seger, acclaimed as a script consultant, equestrian, professor, and author, died Feb. 16. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. April 25 at Church in the Wildwood in Green Mountain Falls. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ The second annual Spring Wonderland Festival will take over Old Colorado City on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at Bancroft Park and Colorado Avenue (featuring a Mad Hatter Tea Party for $10, arts and crafts, live music, and costume contests) to celebrate spring. Colorado Springs Gazette

- ➤ A new report from the Downtown Partnership shows downtown boomed in 2025 with residents nearly doubling to 4,860, 40+ new businesses opening, and total sales rising 7% from 2024. - ➤ Monument Academy received a $17 million donation from an anonymous donor on March 18 to fund its new 750-seat performing arts center (the largest private gift to a K–12 school) at its East Campus, which will boost arts programs and serve the local community. Colorado Springs Independent
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wildfires continue in southern Colorado— the largest at Fort Carson burned 1,600 acres and reached 60 percent containment as of Wednesday while a 65-acre blaze burns along Highway 115 in Fremont County; the Buttemilk fire near Westcliffe is 80 percent contained and evacuation orders are in effect with no buildings lost. - ➤ The Joint Budget Committee approved a Medicaid caregiving cap reducing hours from 112 to 56 per week, with the change set to start gradually on July 1 and become official on November 1 (exceptions will be available based on strict criteria). KOAA News5
