- ➤ A new arts and entertainment guide details upcoming events from March 22 to April 6 at local venues such as the Ent Center for the Arts and Millibo Art Theatre—featuring theater productions, dance performances, film screenings and art exhibits to help locals plan their cultural outings. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Colorado Department of Transportation released the 2025 Colorado Aviation Economic Impact Study showing that Colorado Springs Airport generated $5.2 billion in business revenue in 2023—a 53 percent increase from the 2020 report based on 2018 revenue. The study also found that total jobs grew from 25,093 to 34,829 and payroll rose from $1.5 billion to $2.7 billion, underscoring the airport's key role in local economic growth. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Academy D-20 board president Aaron Salt resigned at a special meeting Tuesday night and his resignation will take effect on June 1 (he began work as Woodland Park RE-2 interim superintendent earlier this month after Ken Witt resigned); the board also named Amy Shandy as its new president and Derrick Wilburn as treasurer while it begins to search for a temporary member to fill his seat until the November election. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Colorado Springs Utilities proposed a 2.4% natural gas rate increase starting April 1 that will raise the average residential bill by about $6.47—pending a City Council vote on March 25. The move comes as increased national gas prices and export demand drive up costs. Colorado Springs Gazette
- ➤ Starting Monday, March 24, northbound Tejon Street from Colorado Avenue to Pikes Peak Avenue will be closed for the Tejon Street Revitalization Project — street parking is suspended and temporary pedestrian walkways are set up while southbound traffic remains open. Crews will remove trees on March 25 and continue work in Block 1 through late June — construction then shifts to Block 2, with local businesses offering limited parking vouchers.
