COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Downtown Colorado Springs welcomed a new food truck lot called The Lot at Meanwhile Block on Saturday, March 15, 2025, where trucks served lunch and dinner with seating and restrooms at 132 W. Cimarron St. Trucks operated every Wednesday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.—future plans include adding shaded seating areas—to provide regular dining options for locals.  Colorado Public Radio

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Five people were taken to the hospital after a crash on South Powers Boulevard on Saturday morning at around 11 a.m.—southbound lanes remain closed at Hancock Expressway, and travelers are urged to avoid the area.  Colorado Springs Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • FBI Denver arrested a man suspected of cartel ties in Colorado Springs on March 15, 2025—federal and local law enforcement said he has a violent criminal history and is a foreign national, with support from Pueblo and El Paso County authorities.  11 News
  • The Colorado Springs Police Department is seeking help finding missing twins Daniel Martinez Jr. and Gia-Marie Martinez, who were last seen Friday at 5:30 p.m. near their home at 19 Sunflower Road, and police are urging anyone with information to call 719—444—7000.  11 News
  • Police responded to a fight near downtown bars early Saturday when a physical altercation led to a man being shot—his hand injury is not life threatening—and authorities are still searching for the suspect.  11 News
  • Authorities arrested 48-year-old Adam Gilmour late Thursday, March 13th, 2025, for allegedly igniting a fire at the intersection of 30th Street and Garden of the Gods Road that burned 20 acres, threatened three houses, and mobilized 40 firefighters—court records reveal a long criminal history and an active warrant from a prior arson case.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • At 2 a.m. on March 15th in downtown Colorado Springs, one man was injured with a gunshot to his hand during a fight in a parking lot on East Pikes Peak Ave near Tejon Street — police said they are investigating suspect leads after the shooter fled.  Colorado Springs Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Colorado Springs voters approved a 10-year extension of the 2C road tax, and city officials will use most funds for fixing local roads from 2026 to 2035—focusing on residential streets. The plan follows past work that improved many roads and aims to keep travel safe and smooth.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • Buc-ee's withdrew its request to annex land off Interstate 25 in Palmer Lake and plans to resubmit a revised application soon—residents and business owners signed over 1200 petitions to oppose the planned 74000 square feet store. The project would have been the chain's first location in southern Colorado after its opening in Johnstown in March 2024.  Denver7
