ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An American Airlines Boeing 737 diverted from Colorado Springs caught fire after landing at Denver International Airport on Thursday evening—emergency crews quickly extinguished the flames while 12 passengers with minor injuries were taken to local hospitals.  Colorado Springs Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • Colorado Springs Police are asking for help finding 12-year-old Zion Griffin, who was last seen on Friday, March 14, 2025, just after 6:30 p.m. in the 200 block of South Murray Boulevard near Pikes Peak Avenue; he is 5-foot-5, 100 pounds with red-brown hair and was wearing a tan sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black cap.  11 News
  • Two people were arrested Monday morning after breaking into three cars at two apartment complexes in Colorado Springs – police said a stolen Hyundai Accent was found on East Cahe la Poudre and both suspects were later located on South Roosevelt and South Brentwood Drive.  KVOR

  • UCCS Cabaret Club brings top professional artists from the U.S. to work with theater and dance students in intimate shows at the Ent Center. Director Kevin Landis, who started the club in 2018 and revived it after a pause, said the program builds real skills—students gain valuable experience and community connection.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • The free Electrowave: Rocky Mountain Electronic Music Festival is taking place this weekend at Ent Center for the Arts—featuring performances by national electronic artists such as Miller Puckette and Christopher Otto along with lectures, demonstrations, sound walks, and a synthesizer petting zoo. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Department of Education is investigating UCCS and other colleges for possible discrimination over the use of a faculty recruiting platform from The PhD Project. The inquiry follows a department memo from one month ago that warned schools federal funding could be at risk for race-based preferences — UCCS said it uses many tools to recruit faculty.  KOAA News5

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • East of Colorado Springs in El Paso County, firefighters worked to contain the Meridian Fire while volunteers from Emergency Incident Support supplied hot sandwiches and drinks to crews near the over 2,500 acre burn area; containment reached 90% on Friday afternoon as officials confirmed the fire was accidental.  11 News
