  • Banning Lewis Prep launched Wish Week yesterday to raise funds for teen Abbott’s skiing wish. The school holds campus events through Friday and its online fundraiser runs until Sunday (targeting $10k) to support Make-A-Wish for local children.  11 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Springs Scene offers a packed slate of live events from March 9 to April 11 featuring music, dance and recitals at local venues like The Black Sheep and The Broadmoor World Arena. Many shows promise affordable tickets and engaging community experiences.  Colorado Springs Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Farmers in southeastern Colorado are facing a dry season after recent rain+snow failed to produce enough runoff through the Arkansas River, with Jack Goble of the Lower Arkansas Valley Water Conservancy District saying growers will likely plant less and leave many acres idle if conditions do not improve.  Colorado Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • El Paso County officials announced that the southbound outside lane of Meridian Drive will close Wednesday for three days between Bent Grass Meadows and just north of Eastonville Road and will close next Monday for 18 days from Bent Grass Meadows to Owl Place (drivers should use the roundabout at Falcon Marketplace and Eastonville Road for access).  11 News
  • After a delay from the initial schedule, Colorado Springs Utilities began relocating electric infrastructure for its new substation on Monday along Austin Bluffs Parkway between Union Boulevard and North Academy Boulevard — lane closures may cause congestion during peak hours.  Colorado Springs Gazette
  • The Front Range Passenger Rail initiative launched a contest Monday to name its future train service running between Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Denver and Fort Collins.   • A Fort Carson soldier, Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, 26, died from injuries sustained during an Iranian attack on March 1 at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia during Operation Epic Fury — he is the seventh service member killed in action, and officials honored his sacrifice.  Colorado Springs Gazette

  • Air Force released its 2026 football schedule Tuesday & it includes a home game against North Dakota State on Sept. 12 at Falcon Stadium, one road game before Oct. 10 and a November 28 contest against New Mexico.
