  • The Idaho Potato Commission’s Big Idaho Potato Truck, home to the world’s largest potato on wheels weighing four tons, is set to stop at Texas Roadhouse on 8th Street near Motor City on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.—the event will feature its charity program A Big Helping to support local nonprofits.  11 News
  • On Tuesday, March 3 the El Paso County Parks Department replaced the dilapidated fence at Paupers Cemetery by Bear Creek Dog Park to protect seven grave markers from the Poor Farm era. The upgrade honors local history and improves maintenance for the historic site.  Colorado Springs Gazette

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Colorado Springs have jumped over the past 24 hours as rising tensions abroad have increased oil costs & local averages climb to 3.04 dollars per gallon, an 18-cent increase since the weekend.  KVOR
  • Gas prices in Colorado Springs have risen by about 26 cents per gallon since last week, with AAA Colorado saying the change is due to seasonal shifts and a switch to summer blend (not related to tensions in the Middle East). EDUCATION NEWS

  • Colorado Springs School District 11 will host its largest hiring fair next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Doherty High School, offering 162 open positions for teachers + paraprofessionals, crossing guards + central administration.  11 News

  • Colorado Springs utilities will soon launch the new Time of Day rate plan that adjusts electricity charges by time with higher weekday peak rates (5pm to 9pm) and lower off-peak costs on weekends and holidays; customers who prefer not to switch can contact officials for other options.  KVOR

  • At 1 p.m. today, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC held a news conference where new head coach Alan McCann (with assistant coach Niall McCabe) previewed the upcoming season; the team will play its first game Saturday in El Paso, Texas against El Paso Locomotive FC.  11 News
